Another RAS thread! But, ahem, on to business now. What is your favorite book?

This is a tricky one, since I read Dark Elf Trilogy, hmm, 20 odd years ago and just finished Road of the Patriarch a few days ago. I have fond memories of all three DET books, especially Homeland, but is this based on me being young and thirsty for good action/adventure books or were they really that good?
I'd say Homeland anyway. Maybe I'll get to reread it one day and see was it really that good.

I really enjoyed the first book of the Cleric Quintet, although I can't remember what it's called because I have them all in the one book. I found RAS style a bit basic in the original IWD trilogy and enjoyed the DET a lot more, but there's so many of them and they're all so similar that I would find it hard to chose one I liked better than all the others.

I forgot to say what my favorite book was... Sorry, everyone. I liked Promise of the Witch King most, I would have to say. Homeland after that.

This is difficult, it's been quite a while since I read any of them.
Probably either Homeland or Exile, they're quite a unique setting in comparison to the majority of fantasy books. I like the IWD Trilogy, but it does feel like classic party of adventurers fantasy to me - quite like the original Dragonlance trilogy in some ways

I haven't read anything past The Orc King (including that book). I've recently bought them all up to Carrion Claw, but I haven't got a chance to read them yet. I do wonder what the Transitions will be like, compared to other books.

I'm not sure I can pick a favorite, but it would have to be earlier in the Drizzt series. I read the IWD trilogy first and fell in love with the characters. That made the Dark Elf trilogy very interesting, but I'm not sure I would have like DET as much if I'd read it first. That's a conundrum if I want to recommend that someone start reading the series.
I haven't enjoyed the later books as much. Things got depressing and the writing began to feel stale. In fact, I think I'm currently two books behind because I DO NOT like Dahlia and don't want to read the book after Gauntlgrym. I have it, finally, in paperback instead of hardback. I think, as frequently as George RR Martin has annoyed me, that I'd rather finish the ASoIaF books first.

This is a damned good question.
I think I really liked the characters the most in the IWD trilogy, that's really when I fell in love. I agree with Cori, things got kinda depressing as it went on and Drizzt lost some of his humor and went into some serious introspective emotional roller coasters......
Nonetheless, I enjoyed a lot of them but really haven't read past the sellswords trilogy. Now returning to this site I'm wondering if it's worth me continuing the series? Do I ever get more of the things that made me love the early books or should I just drop it?
Oh, and shout out to Billy because she reminded me that the Cleric Quintet WAS actually one of my favorites, such a good sort of standalone interim to all the Drizzt novels.
