Which fantasy land would you most like to live in, and why?

Well, I think I'd rather steer clear of Faerun, especially now after that spell plague. I'm sure I'd die of fright with all the monsters, no point fooling myself that I'd be some great warrior or something. I like Deverry, so I think I'd like to go there for a bit. But I'm sure I'll always prefer it here.

There are some nice worlds/lands out there but I doubt if any of them are safe. There are several places I wouldn't mind living but I'll start with Middle Earth. It would have to be in one of the earlier times when elves and dwarves worked together. I'd love to see Moria in all its glory, though I'd probably settle down in Rivendell.

I'm torn between Middle Earth or the Discworld, Middle Earth especially Rivendell or Lothlórien to see the elves. Discworld because who wouldn't want a chance to own luggage with legs or a death who craves a good curry lol.

It really depends on my role in those worlds. Let's face it, the characters in those books are super humans. I'm fairly strong, but it would probably be like Str 10 if that when transferred into D&D. So, no point going to Ferun and getting killed by first kobold you run into. But, if I was one of my characters, like Norros for example, well, that would change things significantly.
I would like to visit many places from ASoIaF, but with different wars going on, it's fairly dangerous there. Most of those peoples are hardly supper human, more of equivalent to our Medieval stock, but you'd have to be someone rich and powerful to go there and even then it might not be safe.
Middle Earth is a must see. Like Marty, I'd like to go there at different times. See Moria at it's glory, see Osgiliath (sp?) at it's glory, Rivendell. Maybe even Numenour before it sunk.
There are probably some other places that I can't think of now.

Take a few invisibility potions with you, you'll be fine!

I'd like Middle Earth, before the end of the third age. Pern would also be good, so long as I got to be a dragon rider. I could be happy with just about any fantasy world including magic, though of course I want to have the ability to use magic! And I would love to make my own fantasy world and then go live in it! It would definitely have magic and elves!!

Middle Earth always fascinates me when I think about it. I mean, I'm still writing in Sindarin, for goodness' sake! My problem with it (and the Lord of the Rings, in general) is that I've outgrown it in a sense. It's too fairy tale-like. Ugly orcs are evil, pretty elves are good. That's why I prefer A Song of Ice and Fire these days.
I love Faerun as well, I've learnt so much about the place, and all the Forgotten Realms, I could be a merchant prince in Amn. It still attracts me, this fantasy place. So many good RPs there...
If I had to choose a fantasy land to live in, though, it would have to be Tamriel of the Elder Scrolls games. It's just beautiful, that place. Valenwood or Skyrim hold a special interest for me.
Either that or I'd be a hedge knight in Westeros, trying to keep my head from ending up on a spike.

LOL, my son saw me posting on this thread and mentioned the Elder Scrolls, too! He didn't specify a place, but was interested in the fact that magic was "equal opportunity" there.

I love Skyrim! But I wouldn't want to set up shop there. I would love to pass through but I'd have to make sure I wore steel knee-caps! I know what you mean about LOTR, Pred. But the land itself sure is still alluring. I'd also like to visit Discworld. At least, some of the safer places!

Pretty much everything in the Elder Scrolls is equal opportunity, Cori. I remember commenting to a friend as I started playing Skyrim about the captain in the opening scene, "She's tough as nails, isn't she?" and he just looks at me and says "The women in Skyrim will mess you up, son." (he may have used a different word for "mess", I might add).
And yes, Martin, I agree, Middle Earth is alluring. Even (or especially) the lands portrayed in the films. Anyone up for a trip to New Zealand? I never used to like elves in my early days of RPing, but the Wild Elves of Tamriel and the Elves of Middle Earth have tipped the scales for me.
