In an attempt to provide greater protection for users Proboards (the guys behind this forum's software) came up with a method of registration that can be a little convoluted and has shown to prove problematic for some people. With this in mind I created a dummy account here and took screenshots so prospective members can see what they need to do.
If, after this, you still have a problem registering then contact me via e-mail <-- click the link!
Or contact me via our Facebook page <-- click the link!
Registration takes two parts. The first part registers you at Proboards (don't worry, you don't have to go there or use their forum: it's just part of their security measures). The second part creates an account here and links this account to the Proboards one (if you already have an account with a proboards then you'll be able to skip the first part - they'll recognise your e-mail address and re-direct you).
First click on the registration link at the top-right of the forum.
You will be taken to the first registration screen where you will be asked to enter your e-mail address.
Pressing continue will take you to the next screen where you will be asked to create an account name (for the Proboards, not IWD) and a password. A date of birth is mandatory (you have to be at least 13 years old to have a Proboards account) and your gender (both can be hidden from prying eyes once you've registered via the profile link).
Hit continue again and you should be taken to the part where you get to create your actual account here at IWD Reborn. Please note that your username may only comprise of small letters and/or numbers. Capital letters will revert to small ones and spaces will be ignored. You can change how your username appears once you've registered.
Pressing continue brings up a pop-up where you will be asked to prove you are human. My dummy account got:
Click submit and if they believe you are human then you get to the part that seems to provide the most problems for people registering - activating their account.
You need to go to your e-mails (the one you registered with) and you should have an e-mail containing an activation key.
There are two options - click on the link provided or copy & paste the link into the current registration page. Clicking on the link didn't work for me so I used copy & paste instead:
Click on activate and you should get the following screen:
Congrtulations! You are now a registered member of the forum. *does the happy dance*
Before I go I'll just add a couple more things.
Firstly, how to change how your username looks on the board. One of the options is called Profile. Click on it and then click on the Edit Profile button (highlighted in the image below).
The second link along (also highlighted below) is for your personal settings. Click on it.
The top option here (highlighted above) is your username. Just type in the box to change it to whatever you want it to read (within reason!)
The second thing I want to mention is applicable only to those who were members of the original IWD site. You can - if you use a different name to what you used back then - still let everyone know who you used to be by typing your old name in the box at the bottom of this page (see the image above).
Don't forget to click on the Save Personal Settings button at the bottom of the page.
And that's it. You're up and running, and ready to rock the forum.
