I'm just re-reading one of my favourite book series - The Belgariad - and the more times I read it the more "continuity errors" I notice. I find such things really irritating myself.
Some of them are basic errors (such as treating Murgos and Grolims as alike but separate races in one book, only to then later say, well actually Murgos are a race and Grolims are basically priests/magic users and not a race). That's the sort of primary-school error that proper authors should really avoid.
Another one sprang to mind but I'll use a spoiler for this one (it contains commentary on both The Belgariad and its sequel, The Malloreon). If anything, this one is an even worse example of bad continuity.
There are others, though I can't recall them off the top of my head - though a lot had to do with his "prequel" novels Belgarath the Sorcerer and Polgara the Sorceress.
Has anybody else any have any examples of books they like but have errors in them that drive you crazy? Or maybe just irritate you? A little?

In The Malloreon, Belgarion and company expose a fake Dagashi assassin because he doesn't have the customary "scars" of devotion to Torak on his face. BUT! In The Belgariad, Brill (also a Dagashi assassin) doesn't have any either, and given his upbringing WASN'T supposed to have any. Eddings basically revised the Dagashi purely to serve a needless plot element (he could quite easily have "exposed" the guy without having to resort to that.)
